It's beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart.
It is not hard to admit that I am but just one of the many, who you would consider as beautiful.
How ironically disappointing, the very thing that people fight over, is it not hard to stomach the fact that one is always but one of the many?
I know for a fact that there are many before me, many after me, and many with me, whom you would consider as beautiful, more so than I.
Well, physically at least.
So why does it matter little to me?
Beauty is a human-made perception, a relative and subjective albeit trivial thing. You see beauty and hardly discern whether it is natural or surgical or whatnot. I am proud of the fact that I am all natural--I have never gotten my skin bleached, my teeth fixed, my boobs done, my eyes widened, and frankly, I get so fluffed up when people commend me for my good genetic inheritance. After all, not everyone wins at the genetic lottery. Sure, I like the compliments but I don't die and curdle when somebody doesn't find me beautiful. It's a fact of life and it's a matter of taste, it's not the be all and end all of things.
Because right where it counts, I have a personality that people would love to hate and love to emulate and that's what counts. Knowing who you are, staying true and genuine, that's the most important thing.
Quite frankly, I would be what the world perceives as "ugly" than have no personality and be a slave to people's expectations.
credit: Lester Echem for the photography and Shai Lagarde for the help. Although I've worked with more professional photographers, Lester's passion is infectious. We tried to emulate Heidi Slimane's shoot with Lindsay Lohan and ended up giggling and ruining the environment to attempt something hot and gritty. Basically, this is the shoot where we attempted to make things look ugly--so, look ma, no makeup, all shadows and colouring!
Yeah, it's good to have your own perception of beauty, one that's devoid of other people's perception however, it's unavoidable to have a coherent standard. I mean, I guess that's partially why you consider someone beautiful? Because there's that collective understanding of it.

We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
